Foley Partner Lawrence Vernaglia is moderating a Health Care Compliance Association (HCCA) teleconference titled “RACs: Open Forum Discussion for Your Questions,” on June 23, 2009 from 12:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. Central.
Speakers include: Jim Bryant, Chief Compliance Officer at Brigham Women’s Hospital; Carol Klove, Chief Compliance & Privacy Officer at UCLA Medical Sciences; Connie Leonard, Division Director at CMS; and Stacey Levitt, Director Patient Care Management at Lenox Hill Hospital.
Attention, hospitals: first rounds of RAC demands due summer 2009. This program will address the most current questions and concerns of the provider community arising from the new Permanent RAC program. Many pitfalls were identified in the demonstration RAC Project, and new issues will arise in the first few weeks of the Permanent RAC. We will offer brief presentations on the hot issues, and then a direct Q&A session with the key CMS officials responsible for implementing the RAC to respond to the most pressing provider questions about the new program. These questions will be posed by leading hospital compliance officers and legal counsel familiar with the RAC based on their experiences during the four-state pilot RAC program. Q&A will be open to audience participants. Moderated by Larry Vernaglia, Co-Chair of the Payments, Fraud & Abuse and Compliance Work Group of Foley & Lardner LLP, this will be an essential program for hospitals as they receive their first rounds of RAC demands this summer.
This program will be valuable not only to hospitals in states that are new to RAC, but it will also provide essential information on the differences between the Demonstration and Permanent RAC programs, so providers in California, Florida, Massachusetts, New York, and South Carolina should tune in for important changes.
