This session’s featured segments will be:
- PCORI Fees Due July 31 — Are You Ready?
Health care reform created the Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) for the purpose of researching the comparative effectiveness of different medical treatments. Findings will be made public to allow patients, health care providers, policy makers, and employers to make informed health decisions. Funding for the Institute comes from PCORI fees, paid by insurance companies and sponsors of self-funded medical plans. The first payment is due July 31, 2013. This session discusses how to determine the fee amount and how to make the payment. - Common Errors Under Code Section 409A
Given the complexities of Code Section 409A, errors are not uncommon in nonqualified deferred compensation plan documents and operations. This segment will describe some common Code Section 409A errors and provide practical suggestions for preventing them as well as recommendations for remedying errors that do occur. - Fiduciary Liability and Your Life Insurance Program
Heirs or beneficiaries of deceased employees might claim a right to death benefits beyond those provided under the strict terms of the insurance contract. This segment will describe the context in which these claims might arise, and what steps an employer should take.
The Employee Benefits Broadcast provides participants with needed information in the most efficient manner possible — only a telephone line and Internet access are required to participate — allowing employee benefits professionals to stay up-to-date with timely information from anywhere in the nation.
