How to Keep Cyber Investigations Confidential
2016 SoCal Cybersecurity, Privacy & Data Protection Retreat
Partner Peter S. Vogel, chair of the Firm’s internet, e-commerce and technology team, will moderate the “How to Keep Cyber Investigations Confidential” panel at the 2016 SoCal Cybersecurity, Privacy & Data Protection Retreat.
After a cyber intrusion, companies should engage outside counsel to retain all third-party investigators. As a result, all communications between the outside counsel, client IT and third party investigators are protected as attorney-work product, which is particularly valuable since not all in-house counsel communications may be considered confidential. This panel will discuss the benefits of this system and how it only works if outside counsel can truly communicate and understand IT and cyber jargon.
