Challenges and Opportunities of Working in a Merged (Acquired) Bi-National Firm
2017 US-Mexico Bar Association Conference
Charles E. Meacham, former U.S. partner in charge of Gardere’s Mexico City office, will lead a roundtable discussion on developing and maintaining a law firm company culture at the USMBA annual conference in San Diego Sept. 28. Meacham opened the Gardere office in Mexico City in 1992 and was the resident U.S. partner in charge until his return to Texas in 1996.
In this roundtable, participants will discuss the challenges that face attorneys in a merged or acquired law firm, how the firm ensure stability and maintains attorney engagement, and the training and resources that best support the merger process. The roundtable will also explore achievement factors, such as how attorneys can participate and excel in the changing environment, and how to measure the success of the merger or acquisition.
Meacham, a bilingual and bicultural international law specialist born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela, advises clients on cross-border projects throughout the Americas. Co-chair of Gardere’s international practice group, he regularly advises clients doing business or seeking to do business in Mexico and Latin America on how to structure investments and projects, including cross-border joint ventures, public bids for infrastructure projects, acquisitions and divestitures, international contracting matters and FCPA compliance.
