Interesting Times: Government Contracting in a Rapidly Changing Global Trade Environment
12 August 2020
Foley attorney Marynell DeVaughn will be part of a panel that will discuss the expanding reach of U.S. laws, regulations, and policies at the intersection of global trade and national security, which are impacting a larger number of contractors. This expansion, coupled with rapid and sometimes unexpected changes in policy and requirements, has made it difficult to achieve full and consistent compliance with all applicable rules, complicated business operations, and created instability in the marketplace. This panel will provide insights on avoiding the perils and pitfalls that arise due to the confluence of rules concerning foreign and domestic sourcing, supply chain issues, export controls, imports and tariffs, emerging and fundamental technologies, and OFAC sanctions. Marynell will review the recent changes in export control regulations that affect trade with primarily Chinese companies. She will also offer some insights on how to navigate these new requirements.
Marynell will speak alongside Monica Lopez Reinmiller, Managing Corporate Counsel, Legal Compliance, T-Mobile and Guy C. Smith, Partner, Stinson LLP.
