Google’s automated email scanning processes are not sinister. Nor are they an uninvited invasion of privacy. Rather, they expressly protect webmail users against spam and malware, and that is a good thing. If folks sign up for free webmail, they should not be surprised by these policies, which are quite clear, and have been publicized in articles and news reports.
