Foley’s Juneteenth presentation was mentioned in a Bloomberg Law article, “Big Law Embraces Juneteenth With Programs, Days Off for Workers,” a roundup of Big Law’s efforts to recognize Juneteenth, which commemorates the effective end of slavery in the U.S.
The article notes that Foley is hosting a presentation by Lynne Jackson, the president and founder of The Dred Scott Heritage Foundation, and the great-great-granddaughter of Dred Scott, a slave and the name plaintiff in the landmark 1857 U.S. Supreme Court case, Dred Scott v. Sandford, who unsuccessfully sued for his and his wife, Harriett’s, freedom.
