Sorensen Quoted on OIG Copay Waivers And Deductibles Policy
Foley attorney Heidi Sorensen was quoted in an article titled “OIG Policy Says Copay Waivers Are OK for Retroactive Pay Increases” in the August 8, 2008 issue of Report on Medicare Compliance. Sorensen gave her insight into an HHS Office of Inspector General’s (OIG) policy that states that the OIG will not subject certain providers to sanctions if the providers waive beneficiary liability for cost-sharing. Sorensen added that the unique policy should not be mistaken as permission to routinely waive patient copays and deductibles.
