Foley Partner Larry Vernaglia participated in an American Medical News podcast that appeared on Reach MD on September 28, 2009. Vernaglia discusses changes to Stark law that define the entities with which a physician should not engage in a financial relationship, stating that the term “entity” no longer applies to just the hospital or provider billing for medical service, but also the entity performing the service. He adds that physicians who own an interest in joint ventures that provide services to hospitals must now meet limited ownership exceptions rather than broader compensation exceptions.
