Foley Partner Russell Beck was quoted in an article that appeared on IT Business Edge on January 13, 2010 titled “Non-Compete Agreements: Likely Unfair, More Likely Enforceable.” Beck discusses arguments made by venture capital (VC) interests in Massachusetts for the abandonment of non-compete agreements, stating that members of the VC community believe that non-compete agreements stifle an employee’s mobility and innovation and, therefore, VC interest and investment. He adds that the VC community contends that banning non-competes in Massachusetts could reinvigorate VC investment and resultant innovation.
