Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP hosted approximately 75 junior staffers on July 23, as part of the Firm's 14th annual celebration of "Take Your Child to Work Day."
The event, held in the Firm's Dallas and Houston offices, gave children between the ages of 8 and 18 the chance to spend the day at work with their parents, socializing with attorneys over pizza and learning about Gardere's commitment to the community.
"This isn't just a 'Career Day,'" says Steve Good, Gardere's managing partner. "Not only do we want them to see what their parents do all day, but we also want them to see the importance of continuing their education and all the career possibilities that lie before them. We also want them to learn about the importance of balancing work with family, and how companies such as ours support the community by providing free legal services, holding our Annual Gardere MLK Jr. Oratory Competition and other events."
In addition to shadowing their parents for part of the day, the children had time for crafts, including a T-shirt design contest in which the winner designs the T-shirt for next year's "Take Your Child to Work Day" event. In Dallas, the children also took in some face painting and participated in a Wii Bowling tournament.
