Allen Named to Forty Under 40 Class of 2011
Foley is pleased to announce that Jason Allen, partner in the firm’s Milwaukee office, has been named to The Business Journal of Milwaukee’s “Forty Under 40” Class of 2011. Individuals named to this prestigious roster represent the best and brightest of the seven-county Milwaukee area’s business community who are making an impact in their professions and communities.
Mr. Allen is a member of Foley’s Finance & Financial Institutions and Private Equity & Venture Capital practices, as well as the firm’s Energy Industry Team. Focusing his practice on transactions in the energy industry, he has assisted national energy companies and many of Wisconsin’s leading electrical utilities in complex transactional matters including the sale and divestiture of power generation, electric transmission, pipeline, mining, refining and energy marketing assets and businesses. He manages the full range of details necessary for the completion of each transaction, including such documentation as asset and stock purchase agreements, merger agreements, joint venture agreements, and electric power and steam sales contracts.
In addition to his practice, Mr. Allen remains committed to playing an active role in firm governance, serving as a member of Foley’s National Pro Bono Committee and Recruiting Committee. He has been heavily involved in the area of diversity-related recruiting, and conducts law school student interviews for Foley’s Minority Scholarship Program, a first-of-its-kind initiative that has awarded nearly $500,000 in merit-based scholarships to minority law students at eight law schools nationwide since its inception in 1998.
Mr. Allen maintains a high level of community involvement outside of his work with Foley, and since 2008 has served as a board of trustees member for the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design, a four year accredited college which offers Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees in a wide range of disciplines in the graphic and visual arts. In this role, he serves on a number of board committees, including those responsible for Finance, Facilities, Marketing and Art Holdings. Mr. Allen also serves on the board of directors for the Cornerstone Achievement Academy, a public high school in Milwaukee, as well as Sharp Literacy, Inc., a Milwaukee-based organization devoted to helping urban school children become confident readers and writers.
Mr. Allen’s service to the public is further illustrated by his involvement with Growing Power, Inc., a national nonprofit organization and land trust supporting people from diverse backgrounds as they work to provide equal access to healthy, high-quality, safe and affordable food for members of their communities. Mr. Allen serves as an unpaid advisor to his father and CEO of Growing Power, Will Allen, who co-founded the organization in Milwaukee in 1995.
Foley sincerely congratulates Jason Allen on the honor of being named to The Business Journal of Milwaukee’s 2011 “Forty Under 40” Class of 2011.
