Partner Jay Rothman to Transition Into Firm Leadership Role.
Foley announced today that Jay O. Rothman will become Chairman and CEO of the firm effective June 1, 2011. Rothman, a partner in the Milwaukee office, was selected last fall by the firm’s Management Committee to serve in the new role.
Rothman will succeed the firm’s current Chairman and CEO Ralf Böer, whose term will expire on June 1, 2011. Over the past several months, Rothman and Böer have worked closely together to ensure a seamless and efficient transition of responsibilities.
“With Jay at the helm to guide the firm toward realizing its strategic objectives, I am confident Foley is in extremely capable hands,” said Böer. “I am proud of the many accomplishments achieved during the course of my 20 year tenure on the Management Committee and nine years as Chairman, including the expansion of the firm’s geographic footprint through new office openings and a substantial increase in the number of specialty practices offered. At this point in my career I now look forward to returning full time to the practice of law with the firm.”
Rothman will leverage both the experience gained through his nine years of service on Foley’s Management Committee and as a corporate attorney in this new role. Over the course of his tenure with Foley, Rothman has been directly involved in an array of management activities, including leading the development of the firm’s current strategic plan. Formerly Chair of the firm’s Transactional & Securities Practice, Rothman’s practice focuses on sophisticated corporate transactions and business law, knowledge and experience he plans to leverage within this new capacity for the firm.
“I am honored to have been chosen for this role and will strive to build upon the great success achieved under Ralf’s strong leadership,” said Rothman. “I am transitioning into this role at a time in which the firm is extremely well-positioned within the global business and legal community, which is a testament to our outstanding leadership team. As part of my agenda for the firm, I plan to focus a significant amount of time promoting continued innovation as we work tirelessly to ensure that our services remain closely aligned with the rapidly evolving and complex needs of our clients.”
