Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP is proud to announce that Partner Fran Phillips has been elected as a board trustee for the Friends of the Dallas Public Library.
"The Dallas Public Library is a community treasure that brings the written word into our homes while sponsoring wonderful programs and presentations that help teach us about who we are, such as the Atmos Energy Discovery Wall for children. The Dallas Public Library is also home to one of the few remaining original broadside copies of the Declaration of Independence," says Ms. Phillips. "I am exceptionally honored to be working with a group that has become an indispensable part of our neighborhoods and our community."
Ms. Phillips is involved in other worthwhile community programs, including currently serving as president of the board of directors for Keep Dallas Beautiful. Her commitment to Keep Dallas Beautiful earned her the Ebby Rose of Distinction Award in 2007, which is presented annually to individuals who have exhibited, by deeds and actions, that they are an outstanding citizen who has improved the lives of others in the community.
She also serves as a trustee of the Dallas Opera, a member of the customer advisory board for Atmos Energy, and a trustee and board member for the Kilby Awards Foundation.
Ms. Phillips is a member of the Gardere Environmental Practice Group with a practice extending to all areas of environmental law and policy. Prior to joining Gardere, she worked with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for more than 15 years, including nine years as the Deputy Regional Administrator for Region 6 in Dallas.
"We are exceptionally proud to work alongside someone with Fran's passion and dedication," says Gardere Managing Partner Steve Good. "Those of us who also live in Dallas are very grateful to have her in our community, serving as our advocate, and helping to maintain our standing as a world class city."
