Dow Jones Daily Bankruptcy Review featured Holland N. O'Neil, Gardere's first female chair. In the article, Ms. O'Neil discusses how her new role inspires her to lead by example. "I want to lead by example," she said. "That really transcends gender to me. I don't want to take this role on as a bully pulpit for diversity or gender issues, but it is certainly in our strategic plan."
Gardere Chief Executive Officer Steve Good added that diverse leadership is valuable to the Firm. "Ms. O'Neil is not in that position because she is a woman," he said. "She's a very talented and successful lawyer who happens to be a woman."
