Partner Kimberly Yelkin Featured in Law360's Female Powerbrokers Q&A Series
Law360 featured Gardere Austin Office Executive Partner Kimberly A. Yelkin in its Female Powerbrokers Q&A Series.
Ms. Yelkin answered questions about her experiences as a leading female attorney, including "What advice would you give an aspiring female attorney?" "Your goal is to create a successful law practice, first and foremost," Ms. Yelkin said. "It is my experience that to have a successful law practice you must not only produce the best quality work product, but also develop long-lasting relationships with your clients. It is also important to create a circle of mentors and contacts, both male and female. Always conduct yourself as a professional and show confidence in your abilities. Most of all maintain your sense of humor. Women who do not have a sense of humor and take themselves too seriously will struggle to gain credibility with their clients and their firms."
Ms. Yelkin is the chairwoman of the Firm's Government Affairs and Insurance Regulatory Practice Groups. Under her leadership, Gardere was named Texas' top law firm by Texas Lawyer in its 2013 Lobbying Scorecard in terms of number of clients and reported revenue for their work during the 83rd Texas legislative session, and the Government Affairs Group was named the second most powerful legal lobbying team by Capitol Inside in its 10th Texas Lobby Power Rankings.
