Global Delivery Report covered a recent report from The Economic Times that showed India's business process outsourcing market had been bolstered by growing interest in sectors such as travel and hospitality, and e-commerce. The report indicated that through these emerging sectors, India's BPO demand boosted by 16 to 20 percent in the domestic market. Global Delivery Report posed the question of whether these new customer sectors will play a role in increasing Latin America's BPO market.
Gardere Partner Peter S. Vogel, chair of the Firm's Internet, eCommerce and Technology Industry Team, said that BPO around the world has increased, and with the significant adoption of the Internet in Latin America, it seems likely that this sector will grow very quickly. Mr. Vogel added that shared services in Latin America is economically appealing. "With increased investments in hospitality and e-commerce in Latin America, the significantly lower costs of operating should allow consulting businesses to operate BPO with great profits."
