The Dallas Morning News Covers Gardere's 23rd Annual MLK Jr. Oratory Competition
The Dallas Morning News covered the 23rd Annual Gardere MLK Jr. Oratory Semifinal Competition that took place on Dec. 9. Approximately 110 Dallas Independent School District fourth- and fifth-grade students participated in this year's competition, with 15 students advancing to the semifinals. The participants were asked to present original speeches addressing the question, "If Dr. King were to win the Nobel Peace Prize today, what would he say in his acceptance speech?"
Eight students were selected by a panel of judges to move forward to the final competition, which will be held on Jan. 16, 2015 at the Majestic Theatre in downtown Dallas.
