Partner Larry Vernaglia was quoted in a HFMA article, “OIG Targets Physician Compensation,” on June 11, 2015. The article discussed the Office of Inspector General (OIG) fraud alert which warned physicians entering compensation arrangements that arrangements must reflect fair market value for services provided. Vernaglia was quoted saying, “[The letter] is designed to send a message to the physician community to not think that they are immune from liability under the enforcement regimes just because the government has been going after hospitals…This letter is a useful tool for CFOs to have in their pockets when they find physicians who are pushing back unreasonably.”
