Law360 spoke with Partner Peter S. Vogel and other social media experts across the country regarding mistakes attorneys should avoid when posting online.
According to Mr. Vogel, lawyers must ensure that their posts cannot be interpreted as legal advice. “If I'm giving legal advice, I'm crossing a line as to whether it's an opinion or trying to advise clients or potential clients about a course they should take in a particular legal circumstance,” said Mr. Vogel. “If someone follows your legal advice and it's bad advice, or it turns out badly, they could sue … for malpractice.”
