The Legal 500 Latin America Guide Recognizes Gardere, Arena y Asociados on Its 2017 Rankings
Gardere's Mexico City office, Gardere, Arena y Asociados S.C., has been recommended by The Legal 500 Latin America 2017 guide as a leading law firm for its work in tax, insurance, and international trade and customs.
The Legal 500 specifically points out partners Roberto Arena Reyes Retana and Fernando Camarena for their work in tax and references their frequent work in tandem that has resulted, for instance, in the successful representation of a major nutritional supplement company in the constitutional challenge of a new tax levied on high-calorie foods. They also add associates Aldo Cain Mendoza Rodriguez and Maria Fernando Mateospayro Oropeza in their overview of notable Gardere tax attorneys.
In terms of insurance matters, the Legal 500 praises the firm’s “unique footprint” in cross-border work, including its focus on US-Mexico issues. The publication writes that clients praise partner Marco Antonio Najera Martinez for his “‘strong knowledge’ of the insurance sector, particularly as regards (US-Mexico) cross-border matters. Key support comes from partner Roberto Arena, whose corporate practice encompasses regulatory insurance work. Former associate Jorge A. Pérez Domínguez, who specialized in local and cross border insurance litigation, was also noted.”
According to the Legal 500, the international trade and customs section, “is praised for its proactivity, reliability and ‘quick, clear and precise responses and opinions’ that ‘attend to all scenarios and risks.’” Alejandro N. Gómez-Strozzi and Marcos Carrasco Menchaca were included, as well as former associate Miguel A. Concha Fuentes.
