Lacktman Comments on Shortcomings of Some Telemedicine Reimbursement Laws

Bloomberg BNA Health Care Daily Report
Partner Nathaniel Lacktman was quoted in a Bloomberg BNA Health Care Daily Report article, “Telemedicine Reimbursement Laws Challenge Insurers and Providers Alike,” about well-intentioned but poorly drafted state telemedicine coverage laws.
Lacktman said such laws can suffer from a statutory drafting process that doesn’t always achieve what lawmakers set out to do.
“Lawyers can do to language what a steam table will do to vegetables,” he said, adding that the final versions of such laws are sometimes “so wilted that it simply confuses and frustrates health-care providers because they don’t actually offer meaningful coverage or payment parity.”
