Partner Z Scott was quoted in an ABA Journal profile of prominent Chicago attorney Patricia Brown Holmes, “Chicago Attorney and Special Prosecutor’s Career Nearly Came to a Premature End.”
Holmes served as special prosecutor in Chicago for the high-profile police shooting case involving Laquan McDonald. The profile discussed Holmes’ career and the perspective she gained after battling cancer. Scott and Holmes worked together at the U.S. attorney’s office in Chicago and founded together the Black Women Lawyers’ Association of Greater Chicago and the American Bar Association Criminal Justice Section’s Women in White Collar Subcommittee.
Scott told the ABA Journal that for all her success in the legal profession, Holmes’ cancer battle may be what drives her. “If you lived through what she lived through, being told you’re not going to make it and then you do make it, you look at life differently. She makes every moment, every relationship, every experience count and have meaning.”
