Partner Mike Okaty has been appointed chair of the American Bar Association’s Senior Housing and Assisted Living Committee, part of the Section of Real Property, Trust and Estate Law.
Okaty, who is currently the committee’s vice chair, will serve a one-year term as chair beginning Sept. 1, 2018.
The committee addresses the unique problems of providing housing and related services to seniors. It encompasses the continuing care retirement community, congregate care assisted living facilities and residential aspects of nursing care, including subsidies and other government programs.
Okaty is the founder and former chair of Foley’s Post-Acute Care & Senior Housing Industry Team, which represents operators, payers, investors, lenders, for profit and non profit clients in the industry in a variety of matters including mergers and acquisitions; regulatory approvals; financing; transactional counseling; industry regulatory and compliance matters; and litigation matters.
Okaty is a member of Foley’s Management Committee and serves as the managing partner of the Orlando office.
