Foley & Lardner LLP is pleased to announce that Milwaukee senior counsel Nick J. Welle has been named one of Wisconsin’s 2018 “Up & Coming Lawyers” by the Wisconsin Law Journal.
The award recognizes rising stars in Wisconsin’s legal community who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, have contributed to their community and have successfully achieved notable legal outcomes early in their careers.
Nick devotes his practice exclusively to issues impacting group health and welfare benefit plans, focusing on health care reform issues and consumer-driven health benefits. He advises clients on matters concerning the Affordable Care Act, HIPAA privacy, COBRA, ERISA, cafeteria and flexible benefit plans, wellness programs, health savings accounts and other benefit issues.
In addition to his practice, Nick runs Milwaukee’s Street Law Legal Diversity Pipeline Program, which educates high school students from low-income families and diverse backgrounds about the law and the legal profession. He also frequently volunteers for the firm’s Wills for Heroes program, which is dedicated to providing free wills to police officers, firefighters and other first responders. In recognition of his volunteer work, the State Bar of Wisconsin in 2016 named Nick a member of its Pro Bono Honor Society.
