Gómez-Strozzi Talks Tariffs on El Financiero Bloomberg TV

El Financiero Bloomberg TV
Partner Alejandro Gómez-Strozzi was interviewed on El Financiero Bloomberg TV about the possibility of the Trump administration imposing tariffs on imports of vehicles and auto parts.
For, even though the agreement between Mexico, the United States and Canada (USMCA or T-MEC in Spanish) provides an exemption of tariffs on 2.6 million passenger vehicles imported annually from Mexico, 108 billion dollars in auto parts and extensive number of SUVs, these numbers still limit the growth of Mexico’s exports. Gómez-Strozzi warned that if U.S. authorities invoke the national security argument for not fulfilling their international commitments, Mexican exports will be affected, and will force the Mexican government to go to the WTO to request a dispute resolution panel.
