Partner Nate Lacktman was quoted in a Healthcare Innovation article, “When Will Telehealth Simply Be ‘Health’? Some Experts Say Sooner Rather Than Later,” about the convenience and benefits that come with virtual health care services.
Lacktman, who chairs the firm’s Telemedicine & Digital Health Industry Team, pointed out that every Medicare Part B service is subject to a 20 percent patient copay fee, which amounts to less than $3 on the $14 per visit reimbursement the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services will now be paying providers for virtual check ins in the first year. In return, he said, the patient doesn’t have to take off work to [physically] walk in and get care and can also get rapid feedback from his or her treating physician for less than what Starbucks charges for a cup of coffee. “I think that is a stellar value,” he said.
