Foley’s Mexico City Office Highlighted in The American Lawyer
The importance of Foley’s Mexico City office to the firm’s strategy and its clients was highlighted in The American Lawyer article, “Despite Uncertainty at the Border, U.S. Firms with Mexico Offices Remain Committed.”
The article noted that, despite trade and tariff disputes between the United States and Mexico, U.S. law firms continue to view Mexico as a vital link in their Latin American practices as well an important geographic region for their clients.
Foley CEO and partner Jay Rothman told The American Lawyer that Gardere Wynne Sewell’s Mexico City office was a factor when deciding to combine the two firms last year. Rothman added that Mexico City was an important market for many of the firm’s clients. Once the new trade agreement between Mexico, Canada and the United States goes into effect, Rothman said that the firm expects to see an increase in work. “The team that we have down there not only understands the legal requirements in Mexico, they understand the practical pieces as well. They understand the cultural differences.”
