Gills, Agarwal Named to Lawyers of Color Power List; Sanders Named Ally
Partners Jeanne Gills and Pavan Agarwal were named to Lawyers of Color’s Power List 2020. The list recognizes the most influential minority attorneys in the nation and includes general counsel, managing partners and law school deans from around the country.
Partner David Sanders has been named an ally by Lawyers of Color.
Gills is an intellectual property lawyer and a member of the firm’s management committee. She also serves as vice chair of the firm’s national Intellectual Property Department focusing on Strategic Marketing & Business Development, She previously served as vice chair of the Intellectual Property Litigation Practice.
Gills practice includes serving as lead trial counsel in complex patent, trade secret, trademark, copyright, and unfair competition litigation and appeals — including USPTO post-grant proceedings — in diverse industries ranging from electronics to biotechnology. Her litigation experience has dovetailed into leading the IP side of M&A transactions with recent deals including the creation of $1.2 billion joint venture entities for power technology companies and the division of patent/technology assets for a Fortune 50 company’s split into two separate entities.
Agarwal is also an intellectual property lawyer and a member of the firm’s management committee. His practice includes various patent law areas, including patent litigation and licensing, as well as opinions and prosecution. He represents numerous high-tech clients, with a focus on electronics and automotive technology companies. He has extensive experience representing manufacturing clients in several patent-heavy U.S. Federal Districts and the International Trade Commission. Agarwal has been involved in several portfolio level licensing negotiations and also manages patent portfolios, with a focus on representing clients with their strategic cases. He is an active member in the firm’s Electronics and IP Litigation Practices and is also a member of the firm’s Appellate and International Practices and the Automotive, Life Sciences, Technology, and Manufacturing Industry Teams.
Sanders is vice-chair of Foley’s Business Law Department and co-chair of the Trade Secret/Noncompete Specialty Practice. From 2010 through 2017, Sanders served as co-chair of the firm’s Transactional & Securities Practice. His practice is concentrated on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, employment, non-compete and trade secret issues, executive employment and termination agreements, leases, license agreements, general corporate matters, and the drafting and negotiation of all types of contracts and corporate documents. He is a member of the firm’s Commercial Transactions & Business Counseling, Private Equity & Venture Capital and Real Estate Practices, as well as the Sports, Medical Devices, Technology, and Health Care Industry Teams. He also serves on the firm’s Diversity Committee and Recruiting Committee.
