Partner Sam Hoffman was quoted in a HR Bartender blog post, “Considerations When Eliminating Employee Benefits – Ask #HR Bartender,” about what employers should know when it comes to eliminating an employee benefit.
Hoffman said the first thing an employer should do when considering whether to eliminate a voluntarily provided benefit is find out what sort of notice requirements there are for such a termination. “The best approach is to start by looking at your plan document and determining what it says about termination and notice,” he said.
