Swift Comments on Trump Administration’s Refusal to Cooperate in Smooth Transition
Partner Christopher Swift was quoted in an ABC News article, “Growing number of Senate Republicans support intel briefings for Biden,” about the threat to national security presented by the Trump administration’s refusal to provide classified intelligence briefings to President-elect Joe Biden.
Swift, a member of the firm’s Government Enforcement Defense & Investigations Practice, warned that foreign adversaries often seek to take advantage of American vulnerabilities during the transition period between presidencies, making the continuity of information a critical element for the incoming administration. “It is absolutely crucial that the Biden transition has the ability to think, plan, and prepare, because turning the ship of state is not something that happens quickly,” he said. “If the Biden team wants to adapt to emerging challenges or be in a position to respond to immediate crises, they need to understand what’s happening – and where the pieces are on the global chess board.”
