Lacktman Comments on Use of Telehealth in Substance Abuse Care
Partner Nate Lacktman was quoted in an mHealth Intelligence article, “Uncertain Telehealth Laws Keep Substance Abuse Care Providers on Their Toes,” about the shifting landscape of post-COVID-19 telehealth rules that may force substance abuse providers to scale back their use of telehealth for services like Medicated Assistant Treatment (MAT) therapy.
Lacktman, chair of the firm’s national Telemedicine & Digital Health Industry Team, said he considers the use of telehealth for substance abuse treatment one of the top issues coming out of the coronavirus pandemic. But with the pandemic winding down, several states are ending their public health emergencies, leaving providers scrambling to figure out what they can and can’t do anymore.
“These patients just can’t be abandoned,” he said.
