Patricia Lane Highlighted in BizTimes Milwaukee for Leadership on Small Business Assistance Project
Foley & Lardner LLP Partner Patricia Lane was featured in a BizTimes Milwaukee article regarding her leadership with a Wisconsin Bar Association program that provides pro bono legal advice to small business owners impacted by the pandemic and other challenges.
Lane provides an overview of the program, which was launched a year ago by a subcommittee of the Wisconsin Bar Association in partnership with Marquette University Law School. To date, 25 volunteer attorneys and 20 volunteer law students have served 144 clients through the assistance program, totaling 226 hours.
“Business lawyers don’t have as much opportunity to participate in pro-bono activities because a lot of (that work) is related to litigation and criminal disputes,” said Lane. “So, there’s a lot of pent-up demand where you’ve got lawyers who want to donate their services, who want to participate and help out. It’s been a really rewarding experience for all of us who have participated.”
