Aaron Tantleff Offers Insight on How Companies Can Vet Remote IT Workers
Foley & Lardner LLP partner Aaron Tantleff is quoted in the IT Brew article, “How to be vigilant when vetting remote IT workers,” commenting on the steps companies can take to ensure careful and stringent verification of remote IT workers.
Tantleff recommended hiring manages always conduct video interviews and have candidates hold up physical ID documentation on camera.
“I still have heard of companies interviewing candidates, whether it’s through their own recruiting, or the use of a third-party recruiting service or staffing service, that they only do it via phone,” Tantleff said.
Tantleff offered several best practices, including that employers only allow their company VPNs, not third-party ones that can disguise location, that employee addresses are double-checked for validity, that background checks are run on any involved staffing firms, and that where possible, companies require an in-person meetup for new hires.
