Special Counsel Jill Wright was quoted in a Law360 article, “Outgoing HHS Watchdog Targeted Purdue, Paved ACA’s Path,” about the tenure of U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Inspector General Daniel R. Levinson, who has resigned effective May 31 after 15 years on the job.
Wright, a former OIG lawyer, said Levinson has played an important role with data-mining aimed at unearthing aberrant billing patterns. “Under Dan’s leadership, OIG has skillfully navigated huge changes in technology and health law,” she said. “OIG was an early adopter of data analytics for detecting fraud.”
