Houston Business Journal featured the top five energy-related issues expected to bring bills and debate to the Texas Legislature in the upcoming session. Gardere Senior Attorney Royce Poinsett spoke with the publication about these issues, which included fracking, shale roads, water, tax and renaming the Texas Railroad Commission.
Mr. Poinsett said he expects the Legislature to address the "wildfire of local (fracking ban) proposals spreading across Texas." He added that he also expects bills to require energy companies to do more water recycling, while the energy sector wants to ease regulations on the use of more brackish water in fracking.
