Partner Jami Gekas was quoted in a Wall Street Journal article published on April 28, 2014, titled “Entrepreneurs Bemoan Counterfeit Goods.” The article explained issues that small business owners face with counterfeits on Chinese shopping sites due to a lack of financial and technological resources to deter or fight these offenders, especially where U.S. patent laws do not apply. Owners also may be able to prevent counterfeits from leaving their country of origin by registering trademarks with local customs’ officials, said Gekas.
