Although the U.S. Government spends more than $500 billion a year on goods and services, many companies are wary of entering into the federal government marketplace based on government-unique auditing and accounting requirements, specifications and standards, and other compliance obligations.

However, due to acquisition reform in the 1990’s and the concept of commercial item contracting, the federal government can now procure commercial supplies and services from contractors on terms and conditions similar to commercial contracts.

Join us for Reduced Risk Through Commercial Item Contracting, a presentation on the federal government concept of commercial item contracting, its benefits, and how contractors can exploit this aspect of procurement reform.

We will discuss:

  • The definition of a “commercial item”
  • Negotiation techniques for commercial item prime contracts and subcontracts
  • Price analysis methodologies for commercial item contracts and recent updates in this area
  • GSA Multiple Award Schedule contracts, including compliance obligations associated with such contracts and recent updates from GSA in this area
  • Government-unique requirements that still apply to commercial item contractors, such as:
    • Compliance with domestic sourcing requirements (e.g. Buy American Act, Trade Agreements Act, specialty metals for DoD contracts)
  • Counterfeit parts restrictions
  • Cybersecurity requirements

We hope you can join us for this complimentary program and also join us at a post-seminar reception to network with the presenters and other attendees.
