Foley invites you to a breakfast discussion with attorney Sherbir Panag of India-based MZM Legal. Mr. Panag, together with Foley Partner David Simon and Special Counsel John Turlais, will provide their perspectives on how companies can effectively navigate the legal and compliance challenges of conducting business in India. The discussion will focus on practical strategies for implementing compliance programs, and approaching and resolving disputes within the Indian legal framework, including:
Sherbir Panag is a partner with MZM, where he chairs the firm’s Compliance and Investigation Practice. Sherbir is a Chambers- and Legal 500-ranked Mumbai attorney who has handled financial fraud, corruption, asset recovery, breach of trust, cross-border disputes, and debarment matters, along with Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), U.K. Bribery Act, India’s Prevention of Corruption Act (PCA), and many other countries’ anti-corruption laws.
David Simon is a litigation partner who devotes much of his practice to helping corporate clients avoid and manage crises that potentially give rise to government enforcement actions. He provides compliance advice, conducts internal investigations, defends companies against enforcement actions, and represents companies in litigation. The FCPA is a principal focus of David’s practice. He has conducted several internal investigations in India and advises U.S. companies on India-related compliance issues. David led the development of Foley Global Risk SolutionsSM, a flat-fee “virtual” FCPA counsel aimed at serving the middle-market business.
John Turlais is Special Counsel in Foley’s Milwaukee office. John focuses his practice on the FCPA, where he has experience in conducting risk assessments, developing compliance programs, and defending companies in enforcement actions. Along with David Simon, John is the co-developer of Foley Global Risk SolutionsSM, a flat-fee “virtual” FCPA counsel aimed at serving the middle-market business.
