Halfenger Appointed U.S. Bankruptcy Judge for Eastern District of Wisconsin

Foley is pleased to announce that Chief Judge Frank H. Easterbrook of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit has appointed G. Michael Halfenger, partner in the firm’s Milwaukee office, to serve as U.S. Bankruptcy Judge for the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin. Halfenger will begin his 14-year term on January 11, 2013.

As co-chair of Foley’s Appellate Practice, Halfenger has litigated a wide spectrum of complex commercial matters in both federal and state courts. He has also held numerous other leadership roles in the Milwaukee area, including as Second Vice President of the Seventh Circuit Bar Association and past president of the Eastern District of Wisconsin Bar Association. Additionally, Halfenger has served on the Wisconsin Supreme Court’s Appointment Selection Committee, the Eastern District of Wisconsin’s Local Rules Committee and on the Seventh Circuit’s Advisory Committee on Circuit Rules.
