Law360 highlighted five tips for serving as a successful special master in complex litigation matters. Litigation Partner Peter S. Vogel pointed out that requesting a modification to your appointment order might be necessary to allow you to view certain documents or speak to additional parties if that will better serve the court's goals. "If, after the case gets going, it becomes apparent that the special master needs to meet with one of the parties and it's not in the order, there ought to be a special opportunity," Mr. Vogel said.
