Law360 covered Gardere’s recent hire of litigation partner attorney and former general counsel to Texas Gov. Rick Perry, David G. Cabrales. Mr. Cabrales comes to the Firm from Locke Lord LLP and brings broad experience that includes representing financial institutions, securities broker-dealers, retailers, and life and health insurers.

Cabrales told the publication that Gardere’s reputation as a “premier Texas-based law firm” and its strong Governmental Affairs group in Austin influenced his decision to join the Firm. “I have known about their reputation and quality of lawyers for my entire career,” said Mr. Cabrales. “It became clear to me I could service my clients more competitively and with fewer conflicts at a Texas-based firm, and the change made itself at that point.”
