Gardere real estate partner and hospitality chair Cynthia Brotman (Cindy) Nelson was featured in Law360 for handling three high-profile transactions for her longtime client, Ashford Hospitality Trust. Each deal – a purchase, a sale and a refinance – were worth more than $80 million each.
Nelson told the publication that one of the acquisitions, a purchase of Hotel Yountville in California, was more complex due to the structure that the prior owners of the property had set up. Law360 reported that "the property is an older building, and the prior owner had combined with the hotel an adjacent property that has apartments where some employees live. So Nelson had to get to work ironing out some of the wrinkles that had been created by that prior structure, and that meant traveling from Texas to the Napa County town 55 miles north of San Francisco.”
Relied upon not only for the real estate law aspects of transactions, but also for the operational components of running hotels, Cindy is uniquely qualified to guide and protect clients in all aspects of the hotel operating business.
