Partner Mike Overly is quoted in a Law360 article, “Tesla’s Play In NTSB Probe May Not Be Worth The Risk,” about the automaker’s decision to release information about the cause of a fatal March 23 crash without the approval of the National Transportation Safety Board.
Overly said Tesla may have released the information now for the sake of not falling behind in the race for innovation. “Right now everyone’s jockeying for the position of whose software is going to be most prevalent in this area, and Tesla clearly wants to be a contender,” he said. “Waiting [for the NTSB to issue its determination of the cause of the crash] would have been intolerable for them.”
