Lacktman Comments on Federal Audits of Telehealth

Partner Nate Lacktman was quoted in a Bloomberg Law article, “Federal Audits of Telehealth to Shape Its Post-Pandemic Future,” about a federal probe into whether the expansion of telehealth services during the pandemic opened the door to fraud and abuse.

Lacktman, chair of the firm’s Telemedicine and Digital Health Industry team, said the rate at which laws and rules for telemedicine have changed during the pandemic has been “incredibly fast.” And health care is already supremely complicated from a regulatory perspective, even before you factor in the 50 different states, he added.

“[T]he result of all this is that there’s a lot of confusion, even among well-intentioned providers,” he said. “I think the audits will shed light on that.”
