Nathaniel Lacktman Discusses Telehealth Growing Pains

20 April 2022 POLITICO News

Foley & Lardner LLP Partner and Chair of the firm’s Telemedicine & Digital Health Industry Team Nathaniel Lacktman is quoted in the POLITICO article, “Telehealth growing pains,” about how the telehealth industry, which has grown tremendously amid the pandemic, is facing some uncertainty as more states end waivers allowing care across state lines.

The proposed Interstate Medical Licensure Compact would serve as a common application so providers can seamlessly apply for licensure in multiple states, but it does not allow for reciprocity. “[The compact] streamlines the application process, but it doesn’t do a lot to reduce the burdens and costs of maintaining a multistate licensure footprint. That is a source of a lot of frustration for physicians in telemedicine,” said Lacktman.
