Foley Partner Scott Ellis Appointed Co-Chair of the Houston Bar Association’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee
Foley & Lardner LLP announced today that Scott Ellis, partner and vice chair of Foley’s national Energy Litigation Practice, as well as hiring partner for the firm’s Houston office, has been appointed as co-chair of the Houston Bar Association (HBA)’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Committee for the 2022-2023 Bar year.
Ellis was selected as co-chair as a result of his experience and demonstrated support for the HBA. As an active member of the HBA, Ellis is the current co-chair of the HBA’s Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) mentorship subcommittee, where he helps design and implement programs that support diverse law students and young attorneys to succeed in their new careers. As with most committee members, Ellis also provides one-on-one mentorship to students who participate in the HBA D&I’s 1L Summer Associate Program.
In 2021, Ellis received two President’s Awards from the HBA, one for his leadership as co-chair of the HBA’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee (2020-2021 Bar year) and another for his service on the Implicit Bias Task Force.
HBA committees plan and execute the Bar’s member services and community outreach. Ellis’ leadership as a co-chair of the DEI committee will help the HBA continue to achieve its mission to serve its members, the law profession, and the greater Houston community.
