Overview

Lisa Conmy is a partner and finance lawyer with Foley & Lardner LLP. Her practice focuses on the representation of investors in institutional private placements and also involves general corporate law, venture capital financings, energy and project finance and securities matters. She is a member of the firm’s Finance & Financial Institutions, Transactional & Securities, and Private Equity & Venture Capital Practices and the Energy and Technology Industry Teams.

Ms. Conmy’s experience in energy and project finance includes representing developers in the construction, development and financing of renewable energy generation facilities, including wind and solar facilities.

Ms. Conmy also regularly assists companies resident in Catapult Chicago, a technology incubator sponsored by Foley, with various capital raises, including convertible note financings, venture capital financings, angel investments and friends and family rounds.

Prior to joining Foley, Ms. Conmy was an associate in the Corporate and Securities Department of Gardner Carton & Douglas. She was also an associate in the Silicon Valley office of Gunderson Dettmer Stough Villeneuve Franklin and Hachigian, LLP where her practice concentrated on mergers and acquisitions and the representation of venture funds and emerging growth companies in private placements.

Ms. Conmy has been selected for inclusion in the 2015 and 2016 Illinois Super Lawyers–Rising Stars® lists. She was recognized by The Legal 500 for her work in the area of finance – project finance in 2013, for mergers, acquisitions and buyouts in 2014 and again for M&A/corporate and commercial - venture capital and emerging companies in 2015.* 

Education

Ms. Conmy earned her J.D., cum laude, at Northwestern University School of Law, where she was a member of the Journal of International Law and Business. She obtained her B.S. in finance from Indiana University.

Representative Matters

Represented US Bancorp in an equity investment in 215 megawatt wind farm in Illinois valued at $520 million. The transaction was structured as a “partnership flip” transaction with eligibility for a $140 million Section 1603 cash grant.
Foley represented a large multinational construction and civil engineering firm based in the United Kingdom in connection with a large multi-currency private placement of debt with institutional investors located in the United States and the United Kingdom. We negotiated the principal financing documents and advised the issuer in connection with U.S. laws and regulations applicable to the transaction.
Represented US Bancorp in equity investment in a 210 megawatt wind farm in Illinois valued at $540 million. The transaction was structured as a “partnership flip” transaction and was eligible for a $130 million Section 1603 cash grant.
