Mike Lappin is of counsel and a business lawyer with Foley & Lardner LLP. Mike practices primarily in the areas of Mergers and Acquisitions, Corporate Law and Health Care.
In 2009, after nearly 17 years at a large Milwaukee law firm representing businesses, private equity firms and individuals in a wide range of business matters with a primary focus on mergers and acquisitions, Mike joined Aurora Health Care, the largest health care system in Wisconsin, as its first general counsel. In that role, he led the development of a high performing legal department; served as the co-executive lead on Aurora’s significant transactions, strategic partnerships and joint ventures and served as corporate secretary working alongside the CEO on board of directors operations of logistics.
After several years as general counsel, Mike was promoted to Aurora’s chief administrative officer where he oversaw the legal, compliance, human resources, information technology, government relations, internal audit, real estate and facilities departments.
In 2018, Aurora merged with Advocate Health Care, the largest health care system in Illinois, to form Advocate Aurora Health. At the request of the Advocate Aurora Co-CEOs, Mike led the successful integration of the two systems which resulted in hundreds of millions of dollars of annual synergies and laid the foundation for the organization to effectively navigate through the Covid-19 pandemic. Following the completion of the integration, Mike resumed his chief administrative officer duties.
Throughout his more than 25-year career Mike has been a trusted legal and strategic advisor to CEOs or other c-suite executives. He is an innovative problem solver, has built effective teams, and has helped lead organizations through periods of change and transformation.
