Overview

Tyler Wied is a patent agent with Foley & Lardner LLP. Tyler is based in the firm’s Milwaukee office, where he is a member of the firm's Mechanical & Electromechanical Technology Practice.

Tyler’s experience includes preparing and prosecuting U.S. and foreign patent applications, working on various patentability and freedom to operate (FTO) projects and opinions, as well as Inter Partes Review (IPR) and litigation assistance.

Additionally, he has worked on projects relating to a variety of technologies including mechanical devices (e.g., transmissions, hydraulics, waste management devices, pumps), medical devices (e.g., neurostimulators, spinal braces, biopsy needles, stents, some MRI/MRE work), software applications and computing systems (e.g., financial applications and associated computing systems) and various electromechanical systems.

Prior to joining Foley, Tyler was a patent agent for a law firm in Milwaukee, where he was responsible for drafting provisional and nonprovisional patent applications and prosecuting both foreign and domestic patent applications. His engineering experience has encompassed positions in automotive manufacturing and a thermal spray coatings company.
